Have you ever come home from a long day on your feet wondering if you need specialty shoes? Many people visit orthopedic doctors each year complaining of foot pain or calf pain related to their feet. The most common problem doctors relate these complaints to would be poor shoe choices. Women wear high heels all day and expect their feet to feel great when they come home from work. Men will wear stiff dress shoes and expect the same thing. While the purpose of shoes is so that you can protect your feet, many people simply choose the wrong shoes.

To get the most out of your shoes, you must have shoes that fit properly. Not only will properly fitted shoes be able to protect your feet from things on the ground, but they will also be able to protect your feet from injuries. Shoes that are too narrow, too small, or too large can really damage your feet. They can cause the fit to be uncomfortable. They can also cause you to injury your feet or to have deformities occur. You should always know what shoes you should be wearing.

You should always purchase shoes that work with your foot shape, not against it. You will notice that if you try to stuff your feet into shoes, you will end up with blisters, bruises, or sore feet. Orthopedic shoes are often a great place to start when you are having trouble finding shoes that allow you the comfort you need. Most often you will need orthopedic shoes because your feet are already shaped abnormally or you have special needs when it comes to shoes. Some orthopedic shoes will require a prescription, while others can be purchased at specialty shoe stores.

Arch Support

When your arch is not as it should be, wearing any type of shoe can lead to major problems. Those with flat feet are often complaining of sore feet, ankles, and legs. This can be very bothersome, especially if you must be on your feet for long periods of time. Orthopedic shoes can be fitted to provide you with the best arch support available. You can get customized orthopedic shoes that are made specifically for your foot. By allowing your foot to be placed in a properly fitted shoe, you will be offering the highest level of comfort and support you possibly can. You will immediately notice an improvement in problems you may have been experiencing. You will be less likely to injure you feet as well. Orthopedic shoes are perfect for people with poor arch support in their feet.

Offer Width

Often times, people have extremely wide feet. Sometimes they are simply born with wide feet, while other times things like diabetes will cause the feet to widen or swell. Although moderately wide feet are completely normal, if your feet are extremely wide, you may have trouble finding shoes that fit well. Orthopedic shoes are also great for this problem. You can find orthopedic shoes that are made wider than what you will find in the shoe stores. Your feet can be measured and you can get shoes that fit properly, which will help you walk better and help with any other pain you may be having in your feet or legs.

Where To Go

When you think you need orthopedic shoes, the first place to go is your doctor. Allow your general care doctor to examine your legs and feet so they can know for sure what the problem may be. You may have a more serious problem that needs tended to. If they think you could benefit from orthopedic shoes, they will either refer you to an orthopedic specialist or to an orthopedic store. They will be able to tell you exactly what to look for and what types of problems you are having with your feet. Bring your current favorite shoes with you so they can see what they have to offer as well. Sometimes by looking at your current shoes, they can understand why you are having the problems you are having. Be open and realize that you are doing yourself a huge favor by getting shoes that fit properly. You might be paying more for them, but your health will improve because of it, and nothing is more important than you health.

Some people would sacrifice comfort for style no matter what the cost. Women wear around four inch heels that cause their feet to hurt and their toes to curl, and not in a good way. Other people however would rather be comfortable than anything else. Show manufacturers have taken notice of the emerging comfort trend and are creating more updated options to traditionally comfortable shoes. The loafer is one style that we are seeing come back in a huge way. Although the loafer has never really gone out of style, it has not been seen as a trendy option for the last ten years at least. Today things are changing and the loafer is re-emerging as a stylish shoe option. Take a look at these four reasons people everywhere are sporting the newest versions of the loafer shoe.

Comfort

When you talk to most loafer owners, they will tell you one thing for sure; their loafers are the most comfortable shoes they own. Loafers are shoes that allow your feet to breathe. They are not constricting and are great for your arches. They tend to be very cushioned in the sole, which helps with overall comfort. Although most loafers do have a small-wedged heel, it is nothing that causes any type of stress on your feet, ankles, or legs. The loafer is something that you don’t rush to take off as soon as you get home. You can wear them around the house and still be completely comfortable. Don’t think that just because they are so comfortable that they are only meant for those who are constantly on their feet. Anyone can wear a loafer shoe and experience the comfort they long for.

Ease

Some people who tend to be drawn toward loafer shoes are those that appreciate the ease a loafer offers. Loafers are shoes that can be slid on without needing to be tied. They are perfect for people who have bad back problems or those who cannot bend easily. You can be sitting and slip your feet into a loafer shoe without needing to bend at all. The ease is something that many wearers may overlook, but those who need an easy shoe, certainly appreciate. If you are someone that has a medical problem that prevents you from being able to bend easily, try a loafer shoe! Even pregnant woman appreciate the ease of a loafer.

Versatility

Loafers are great because they are perfect for any occasion. They are ideal for a weekend at home, a trip to the grocery, to church, or even to the office. They can be used to dress down or to dress up. You can pair them with many different clothing pieces to get different looks. When worn with jeans you can create a classic yet casual look for any event. When worn with dress slacks, loafers can be a comfortable way to get a little more formal. Wearing them to the office is a great idea if you do a lot of walking. Your feet will appreciate the comfort and you will still look great. Loafers are very versatile which is one thing that is bringing them back in such a huge way. Not only can you stay comfortable but you can also save money only needing a few pairs of loafers to get you through any event.

Stylish Options

More companies are beginning to offer more style options when it comes to the loafer shoe. Traditionally you could only purchase the loafer in brown or black leather. Today however, while the brown and black leather are still available, you can get loafers made of many different materials. You can find canvas loafers, suede loafers, and leather loafers. They are coming in many different colors as well. The canvas and suede varieties are particularly colorful. They tend to have more of a sporty feel to them as well. You would not likely wear the canvas or suede loafers to the office, unless you have a causal dress code. These extended style options are drawing a bigger crowd toward the loafer shoe however. Where older generations used to be the only people wearing loafers of the past, today younger people are wearing them continuously. Even children love to wear their loafers everywhere they go.

With everyday use, any pair of shoes can wear down quickly. That is why it is important to take good care of your shoes. To help prolong the life of your shoe, you should remember a few tips that will help you get maximum wear out of your shoes. Some basic cleaning and repair tips can be performed at home, and other tips may require a shoe repair professional.

Even the small steps you can take to maintain your shoes will help preserve the high quality. Shoes can be expensive and you can protect your investment by proper maintenance. One step you can take at home is to clean the dirt off your shoe with a soft cloth or brush. If your shoes are wet, you can dry them with a cloth, and insert dry, crumpled newspaper inside the shoe. Place your wet shoes in a cool, dry place until the shoes are no longer moist or wet. The newspaper will help the shoe keep the shape while drying.

If your pair of shoes is made of leather, you can use a cream to help polish them. When you are done, wipe the excess polish off the shoe with a soft cloth. This makes your finest dress or casual street shoes look new again. The use of certain types of toothpaste can also help you remove tough black marks called “scuffs” from the upper surfaces of your shoe. The toothpaste treatment usually works best on shoes made from leather, but you can also try it on canvas and vinyl. Before putting the paste over the entire shoe, test a small area first. After you have removed the scuffmarks, wipe the area clean with a damp or dry cloth, and polish the shoe for best results. These money saving tips can increase the life of your shoe dramatically.

Other forms of proper shoe maintenance involve a little more work. If you do not want to maintain or repair your own shoes they can be easily repaired for a small fee. Most of the time a professional can repair the shoe for less than the initial that you paid for the shoes. One example of a repair that can be done by a professional is replacing the plastic heel caps that most shoes come with. You can have rubber caps put on the heels instead, and these are more slip resistant. Rubber caps prevent breakage and are often more comfortable to wear. This can be especially helpful high heel shoe design. For extra safety and support consider replacing your plastic heel caps with rubber ones.

Another method of shoe maintenance that can be applied to your favorite pair of shoes is to replace the leather sole with a rubber one. Although the leather does allow room for the foot to breathe, it is less warm and more slippery. This can be a concern during the winter month especially in snowy and icy conditions. The rubber sole would provide more traction for your foot and prevent slipping and falling.

Weatherproofing products can also be applied to your shoe to make them more resistant to the elements. However, make sure you use these with caution. These products sometimes change the shade of your shoes. Also, adding weatherproofing does not mean the shoes can be left outside in the weather all the time. This treatment is meant for short term walks outside in the elements. Weatherproofing can help save your shoes and help protect your feet.

If you think that sending a shoe off to be repaired will take too much time, consider locating a repair shop close to your home. Most repairs only take a couple of days and can prolong the life of your shoes. In order to find a good shoe repair shop, listen to recommendations of your friends, family, or neighbors. Visit the shop and see if the shop is clean and efficient. It may be wise to ask questions about what machinery they use and methods they use to repair shoes. Most shoe repair shops are more than happy to give you a free estimate on the cost of repairs.

You will benefit from using basic maintenance and repair methods to prolong the life of your shoes. For more tips on how to maintain your expensive shoes, try searching the Internet with the search words “shoe maintenance” or similar phrase on a search engine. It will be worth it to you in the long run.

Prom is such a special time for teenagers. It is really one of their first opportunities to dress up in formal attire and go out on a date. They will get fancied up, go to dinner, and then dance the night away before returning home with a smile on their face. In the past, although Prom was important, teens didn’t spend nearly as much on their attire as they are today. Today, there are no stops. Teens are requesting attire that costs hundreds of dollars and parents are giving in. Shoes are one part of the attire that teens should pay special attention to. Take a look at what both teenage boys and girls are wearing to Prom this year.

What The Belles Of The Ball Are Wearing

Prom dresses are being purchased in all shapes and sizes. Some girls prefer a short dress while others love the princess dresses. No matter what they choose, they all know their shoes are an important part of the ensemble. While those who wear shorter dresses should be more aware of their shoes, long dress wearers have thinking to do as well. The first thing all belles should consider is comfort. Prom is a place where you will want to dance for extended periods of time. You will not want to do this when your shoes are causing your feet to hurt or blisters to appear. You should choose shoes that are comfortable to walk in and dance in. While taking your shoes off at prom may seem like a good idea, you will find that they floor is never very clean. Therefore, when you take your shoes off you might step in soda or anything else you can think of.

When it comes to style, if you are wearing a short dress, consider wearing a strapped sandal shoe. It should be trendy and young. If you are wearing a long dress that flairs out with tulle, you can consider wearing a short heel or even ballet slippers. You should stick with feminine looks no matter what you are wearing. Try several shoes on with your dress to get the best look possible. Remember that you don’t have to worry about matching your shoe to your dress color; just be sure that the colors work together.

What Their Gentlemen Princes Are Wearing

Most young men will wear tuxedos to the Prom. Some will go for that traditional bow tie and cummerbund look while others will opt for the classy tie. Since most teen boys could care less what type of shoes they wear, they will often go with the tuxedo shoes that come with the suit. You can rent the shoes right along with your tux if you like. Some tux shoes are made of patent leather and will offer a high shine. Others will be matte. You can get them in various colors, depending on the style you are going for. Black and white retro tux shoes may take your style back to the Rat Pack days while shiny black shoes may make you feel like a real prince.

One thing to consider is the style of your date’s dress. You want to try to stay a little coordinated in style with her. Although you don’t have to match completely, your outfits should work together. Many teen boys are choosing to go a little casual to the event with athletic shoes. You can get black tennis shoes for the Prom but many boys are choosing brighter colored kicks. They claim they are more comfortable, which cannot be denied. If your date has no problem with your urban Prom style, then go ahead. Keep in mind however that if your date is made about your lack of formality, she will not likely have a good time. So, run it by her before you commit to wearing tennis shoes to the dance.

Parents, be sure to remind your teenagers that they will be wearing their shoes all night and that comfort is more important than anything. Then, refuse to spend massive amounts on shoes alone. There is no reason the Prom should break the bank! Keep in mind however that the shoes they do choose can likely be worn again to other functions, which is always a great thing.

Brides typically worry about every single detail when it comes to their wedding. The cake, the invitations, the dress, and their shoes all have to be perfect. There is so much pressure on a bride today to create the perfect event that often each bride will obsess unnecessarily on the small things as well. When it comes to wedding shoes, there should be no obsessing. Wedding shoes are such a minor part of the entire wedding event that brides should feel no pressure at all when it comes to their shoes. While bridal stores may make it seem like the shoes are part of the dress, the truth is that most people never even see your shoes when you have a long skirted dress with a train. So, don’t fret over choosing your shoes and use these tips while shopping.

Comfort Is Important

Without argue, the most important factor in choosing wedding shoes is comfort. You want your wedding day to be one where you can focus on your partner, your guests, and the event in general. You certainly don’t want to worry about getting a horrible blister from your shoes. Many brides choose the wrong shoes and are miserable throughout the ceremony. They typically take their shoes off at the reception, which is great if your reception is inside. If you have one outside however, you may be stuck in those horrible shoes.

Brides today are being smart about their wedding shoes. They are option for ballet shoes or for white tennis shoes instead of heels. Some brides even buy white house slippers for their big day. You can always choose to wear those fancy heels for the ceremony and then change right into your comfortable white shoes for the after party. There is no reason you should not be able to dance the night away on your wedding day so choose a great pair of comfortable shoes, no matter what style they are. Just be sure they are a pastel color so they won’t steal your show.

Style Counts…But Not Much

Many brides obsess about the style of their bridal shoes. The truth is that unless you are wearing a short dress, most people will have no idea what type of shoes you have on underneath. If you are someone who only feels as fancy as your shoes however, you might want the dressiest pair around. But, be realistic and know that you should not worry as much about style as you should about comfort. When you are planning a wedding there are a million things to focus on at length. Don’t let your shoes be one of them!

Inexpensive Doesn’t Mean Ugly

Today’s weddings are costing an average of $6000 to $25,000 each. At these expensive prices, there are some things that you should be thrifty on. While you should never buy cheap wedding shoes that are uncomfortable, you should not run out and buy a pair that costs $500 either. Remember that you will only be wearing these shoes once. Most brides save their wedding shoes after their big day because they never want to wear them again. Besides, there are not many women brave enough to wear white shoes on any other occasion than their own wedding. Just because they are inexpensive does not mean they are not comfortable and appropriate. So, save your father a buck or two and don’t spend a bundle on your wedding shoes.

So, as you are choosing your wedding shoes, keep these things in mind. Comfort comes first! You should do whatever it takes to stay comfortable during your wedding day. If you stay comfortable, you will have much more fun. If you force yourself into pretty but uncomfortable shoes, you will likely be miserable. Remember that you can really wear whatever you want under that long dress and no one will likely know any different. So, don’t focus too much on style and choose something that feels great. If you want to keep with the style for the garter removal, consider buying a pair of inexpensive heels for that part of the party. Lastly, be sure to keep money in perspective when shopping. It is your wedding, and you are entitled to have a lavish affair, but don’t be unrealistic about it all.

Cowboy boots are just that, boots that are designed to used and worn by cowboys. Cowboy boots got their start in the early 1860s during the Civil War deriving from the original design of the cavalry boot worn by soldiers. Then in the 1870s and 1880s working cattlemen in the ranching states of Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma turned to boot makers and asked them to make alterations to their boots in order to better suit the conditions they worked under. The two best-known makers of the cowboy boot in that era were Justin of Justin Boots in Spanish, Fort Texas (also known as “Big Daddy Joe”) and Charles Hyer of Hyer Brothers Boots in Olathe, Kansas.

Cowboy boots have a unique design that is all their own. They are constructed with a high shaft, a high heel, a rounded to pointed toe and no lacing whatsoever. The earliest types of cowboy boots were made of plain leather but as time progressed cowboys wanted fancier boots complete with decorative stitching, an assortment of materials and cutouts in the high tops (Texas stars were once “all the rage”). Today not only cowboys wear boots. Some people enjoy the feel as well as the fashion of wearing modern day cowboy boots and they can be purchased in almost any color you desire. Most cowboy boots are made from cow leather but some are fashioned from more exotic animal skins such as alligator, snake, elephant, ostrich, buffalo, elk and even the stingray.

When shopping for a great fitting pair of cowboy boots the first thing you must be aware of is that cowboy boots do not fit exactly the same way as other shoes do. It is important to always have your feet measured by the shoe salesman and never shop for cowboy boots first thing in the morning. Save cowboy shopping (and any kind of shoe shopping) until after lunch, midday and mid afternoon is the best, as feet expand throughout the course of the day. If you buy a pair in the morning then the boots will end up being too tight by the time nightfall arrives. The reverse is true if you buy boots in the evening after being on your feet all day- come the next morning the boots will be far too large for your comfort! Keep in mind as well that not everyone is exactly symmetrical as some people have one foot that is slightly larger than the other. For this reason it is strongly advised that you have both of your feet measured for cowboy boots, not just one!

After you have your foot measurement out of the way, turn your attention to your toes. The toes of cowboy boots are not all cut the same way. Some boots are made with boxy toes, others with pointy toes and still others with rounded toes. A great many of cowboy boots both for men and women are made with pointy toes so pick and choose carefully depending on the shape of your foot.

The next step is to look closely at the depth of your foot, which can be identified as the part of the foot from the arch to the top. Women who have very deep feet sometimes have problems finding a pair of cowboy boots that fit comfortably and do not bind. The best choice for many women is to purchase a pair of cowboy boots in either a boy’s or a small men’s size. This also works the same for those who have wide feet. Generally speaking, women’s cowboy boots are made with a B width and men are a D width. For individuals with wide feet look for boots that are made with a “wide width” or perhaps shop in the department for boys shoes and boots.

Heel heights are the next consideration. Cowboy boots come in any number of heels, from the smallest to the tallest. Go with whatever suits you best. Ladies might want to go with a short-heeled boot for daytime wear and a high-heeled cowboy boot for nighttime fun. In general for men, women, and children and for the purposes of dancing it is a good idea to wear a heel that is somewhere between ¾ inches to 1 ¾ inch.

Once you’ve taken all of the above into consideration get down to business by trying the boot on. Begin by rolling up your pant leg to just below the knee and then with the tabs at the top of the boot, pull it on. A comfortable boot is one that allows the foot to slide easily into it and bear in mind that the seam where the leg of the boot attaches to the shoe part of the boot should not be binding (or confining) whatsoever. Your toes should be able to wiggle and move around somewhat in the boot and when you get up to walk the heel of the boot should slide just a tiny bit in the heel.

With millions of online stores offering anything you can imagine, there is a real trend in shopping online. Shopping online was once considered risky with shoppers being afraid of their credit card information or personal information being available to the public. However today shopping online is easier and safer than ever. Buying clothing and shoes online can help you get items you cannot get locally as well as save money. There is always a store online offering a better price and a better deal, so be sure to check around.

Shopping online can be difficult however because you don’t have the item you want at your fingertips. When it comes to clothing and shoes, you cannot physically try them on. So, there are things you should be much more aware of when shopping for these things online. Use these tips to help you shops for shoes successfully online.

Know Your Body

The most important thing you can do when shopping for shoes online is to know your body. Know what looks good on you. If you have short legs, you should know that tall boots would not likely flatter your shape. If your calves are a little larger than most, know that you should beware of tall boots as well. Many people have wide feet, in which you know you cannot wear most skinny heels. All of these things are completely normal parts of a person’s body. However, you should keep them in mind when shopping for shoes online. If you have a wide foot, be sure that you are not trying to purchase narrow shoes and vice versa. Knowing what works for you and what you like best will help you make realistic purchases. Remember, although it looks good on the model online, it may not look that great in real life.

Size Charts Help

There are too many shoppers who ignore the sizing charts most shoe websites provide to them. These size charts are not put on the site for any other reason than to help you make a successful purchase. A lot of research goes into them so you should take a look. Although most people know their shoe or boot size, some brands will differ greatly. This is essential when you are buying specialty shoes, like sporting or dance shoes. The specialty shoes are often a little bigger or smaller than your normal size. Most size charts will allow you to compare your street shoe size with the size you need. They are very easy to read and are nothing but helpful. If you use the charts, as you should, there should be no problem in the size being wrong.

Return Policies

Occasionally you will order the correct size however the shoe you get will just not fit right. It may be too narrow or the toe area may be too small. No matter what the problem is, you should always be aware of a website’s return policies before ordering. You don’t want to wait until it’s too late to figure out they don’t take returns. Educate yourself on the policies before you put down the cash. Most shoe websites will allow you to return or exchange your purchase as long as the shoes have no been worn outdoors. This can be a tricky thing however because even if you wear them outside once, you could be voiding the return policy. The best thing to do is to wear them inside a few times. You will know after these trials whether or not the shoe will work for you.

Along with the return policies, be sure you understand shipping charges as well. Some shoe websites won’t charge you additional shipping for returns or exchanges. However, some will charge you for sending the item back as well as for shipping the new pair. You don’t want to be caught in this type of fee game, so check it out before you buy. If you use the sizing chart and if you know your body then you probably won’t even need to worry about these things. However, there are always things that happen and shopping online will not give you a complete idea about how the shoe will fit or feel on your foot.

There is no denying that although not the best shoe style for women medically (high heeled shoes put pressure on the front part of the foot by pushing it forward and down and bending the toes up in an unnatural position) high heeled shoes are stylish, elegant and can make any women feel sexier. High-heeled shoes have a simple definition, they are “shoes which raise the heel of the wearer’s foot significantly higher than the toes.” High-heeled shoes come in a number of different styles, different materials and can be purchased in almost any color of the rainbow. Most high heels are one color but some have patterns such as leopard print. High-heeled shoes come in a variety of shapes also, such as block, blade, stiletto, tapered and wedge.

What exactly equals a “high heeled” shoe has been long debated. The norm for most women is a heel between two and three inches because it can be comfortably walked in while still providing some extra height. It is women in the minority who wear heels that are four inches and over and those classed as extremely high heeled tend to be the domain of entertainers and/or are purchased for those harboring shoe fetishes. The higher the heel the less practical it is for wear on a more or less steady basis.

In order to decide whether or not to wear high-heeled shoes or to decide what style of high heels a woman is interested in wearing she must consider her reasons for wearing them. One of the most obvious reasons is height. Lots of women (especially petite ones) want to appear taller and high heels make that happen. It is a form of an optical illusion in a sense. Longer legs (much like a Barbie doll’s legs) appear extremely sensuous and this look appeals to most women (and most men). The angle of the foot is altered in respect to the bottom half of the leg when high heels are worn, which causes it to shorten and also makes the calves of the legs stand out.

Many women wear high-heeled shoes for the sexual element inherent in it. One’s body is shifted in a different way, which is very sexy. In other words, high-heeled shoes bring about a change in gait and posture that thrusts the derriere further back and brings more of a sway to the hips, which lends itself to an air of eroticism. Some high heels (such as strappy sandals in summertime) show off the sole of the foot and many believe that to be very sexual in nature. As well stiletto heels are considered by many men and women alike to be off the charts sexy.

Today most women own a few pairs of high heeled shoes, some geared for business purposes and others for social occasions. Over the past sixty years high heeled shoes have been at times extremely popular and at other times, not as much so. Lower heeled shoes were all the rage in the late 1960s and early 1970s but then higher heels took over as the “in” shoes in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Then in the late 1990s lower heels and flatties took over as the popular style once again. With the turn of the century there has become a greater acceptance of a variety of shoes, everything from the high-heeled shoe to the lowest heel and everything in between. Different heel shapes have also come in and out of style. During the 1950s and now, post- 2000 stiletto heels are popular while the 1970s saw the block heel as “in” and in the 1990s it was the tapered heel.

In deciding what pair of high-heeled shoe is right for the occasion a woman needs some fashion know-how. What is considered to be the “little black dress” of shoes is a low-heeled sophisticated black pump. This is the most responsible of all heels, a pair of pumps that are at home for a business meeting or an early dinner. The “new black” high heeled shoe is a neutral pump. But don’t think white, think beige, cream or off white instead. A black dressy high heel is a must for all those show stopping social occasions such as a dance, party or elegant dinner extravaganza. Look for a black high heeled dress shoe that is not too strappy but yet not too clunky- instead for understated charm and elegance, with a touch of sexiness thrown in for good measure! Just as in the basic pumps category, black is great but not enough. When you need something just a little bit more glitzy and glamorous get noticed wearing a pair of metallic high-heeled dress shoes. Gold or silver never looked so hot!

When you think about a burley biker, one of the first things you may picture is their big old black boots. While bikers of the past never went for a ride without them, today things have changed a little. Today’s bikers are no longer stereotyped in a traditional manner. Bikers are driving sporty bikes and wearing their tennis shoes when doing so. There are professional people who are driving cruisers while wearing their loafers. Although this may seem ridiculous to traditional bikers, it is being done frequently. The question is however, are biker boots necessary or just part of that traditional look? Take a look at these ideas to figure it out own your own to see if real bikers wear boots.

Safety

When you ask a traditional biker if he or she would ever ride without their boots, the answer is always that they would not. Although very few will offer an explanation or any insight into their reasoning, they will elaborate when prodded. Most bikers claim that their boots are not only worn for the look, but for protection. When it comes to biking, there are certain risks you take. The first risk is that every time you drive, you can burn your leg on the exhaust if you are not careful. More bikers get burned from their exhaust than anything else. The exhaust pipe is not something that only gets a little hot, but it is scorching. When you touch your leg to it, you will likely get a blistered area and a large scar. It can take weeks for it to heal properly. When bikers wear boots that cover their calves, they will be less likely to get burned. Many people who ride on the back of bikes wear boots for this reason as well.

In addition to the risk of getting burned, bikers often wear protective gear, like boots, and leather pants and coats in case they wreck. Although they know if the wreck is bad enough there is little they can do to stay safe, when the wreck is small or when they just skid off their bike a short distance, leather can help. Leather can save a person’s skin from being hurt by the asphalt. Just like a helmet, leather boots, coats, and pants can really help the damage lessen if there is an accident.

The Look

While it is true that bikers will rationalize their boot wearing, the look does play a part. When you ask a biker about sport bikers and how they wear tennis shoes to bike, they often laugh. They don’t see that sporty driver as a biker at all. The look does help define the stereotype and bikers are fine with that. They like to wear leather, jeans, and boots when riding. They think they look meaner and tougher when they do that. Although most bikers are not mean, they do enjoy that image. They like to look like they listen to rock and roll music or honky tonk country. It is all part of their image and it is something that appeals to them. If they would never wear loafers off a bike, why would they put them on to ride their bike? They are people who wear boots everyday, whether they are riding or not. They are not willing to be changed because of a stereotype and will even buckle down in the hottest clothing during the summer month rides.

As you can see, although boots are functional for riders, they are also important for the biker look. If you are a new rider, you might want to strongly consider wearing boots to avoid hurting yourself on your exhaust pipe. All it takes is one good burn and you will be begging for a pair of good boots. However, if you want to look like a biker, you might want to wear those boots every time, no matter if you have been burned or not. A real biker wears his or her boots when they are riding and when they aren’t. So, go ahead and choose a great pair of leather boots today. Make sure they cover most of your calf area and they are comfortable to drive in.

Choosing men’s dress shoes is not always an easy task to take complete. Most men do not give a lot of consideration to their footwear and when they do they rarely have any idea what to look for. When it comes to formal shoes, there are a variety of styles and levels of quality that affect a decision just as much as color and style. So how do you choose men’s dress shoes? There are four things you should consider in the selection process.

First of all, you should consider the practicality of the shoes. Are they well made? Are they going to be comfortable throughout the day? To begin with, make sure you get a pair of shoes with good padding and a solid insole. The average person takes over 4,000 steps a day, which is right around 3 miles. With that information in mind, it is important to choose a dress shoe that is comfortable and offers good solid support for your feet. The emphasis there should really be on support. With good support you will end up with more comfort. The arch of your foot is a very sensitive body part. Your arches should be properly supported in order to have good overall comfort, as well as good foot health.

Secondly, consider the durability of the shoe. With a person taking so many steps per day, the wear on the shoes can be considerable if you wear them with any frequency. Look for a dress shoe with a good thick sole. In addition, strong stitching will help the rest of the shoe hold up against the wear and tear of each step you take. Look for something that will offer you good thick soles as well as tight stitching. The thick soles may actual do double duty for you since they can tend to absorb more of the shock of the day’s walking by putting more material between your feet and the ground.

Once you have the practicalities of comfort and durability taken care of, you might want to look at the fashion side of the shoes. First, consider the color of the shoes. Color is important, because despite what most men think, dress shoes are not all the same. Black and brown are your two main men’s dress shoe colors, and ideally you would have one pair in each of the colors. Brown shoes are needed to wear with khaki, blue, green, and other earth tones. On the other hand, you need the black shoes to go with black pants or white and cream colors. If you are only going to buy one pair of shoes, then you really have to look at your own wardrobe and see if it works best, overall, with brown, black, or some alternative color that is appropriate for your attire.

Another consideration in terms of fashion is the style of the men’s dress shoe you are going to choose. There are a variety of levels of “dressiness.” You should consider where you are going to wear the shoes the most. Increasingly, our society is getting away from formal and leaning more toward casual. Casual dress shoes may actually be much more versatile for you than dressier men’s shoes. If you find a comfortable shoe with a nice casual look, you can actually get them to look more formal with the right attire with them. Remember, these are your shoes, not everyone is going to pay as much attention to them as you will.

Choosing men’s dress shoes is certainly not an easy task for most guys. You know you need to get dress shoes because of your job, because of a party, or simply because it completes your wardrobe more readily. Once you know you need them, you should start considering how to pick them out. There are a number of factors to consider in dress shoes for most, but there are four that are perhaps the most important. You should make sure that your shoes are durable so that they will last. They should be thick soled so that they are comfortable as well. You should make sure you get the right color or colors as well. Lastly, make sure the dress shoes you choose are the right style for what you need.
